Labrador

I’ve put my Weim to one side to make a start on this small drawing of Sandy, a lovely yellow Lab. I say ‘small’ as this is only 8’x6’ and I don’t normally do anything smaller than 10’x8’ – until now.

Labradors have to be one of my favourite breed of dogs and definitely one of my favourite to draw.

Your colors are so rich... And I love the depth you get in the eyes. So much detail in such a small size, bravo!!

I do a lot of work at this size and love it. But most of the time I end up with just parts of the dog. I tend to start with the eyes and work out. I love how this is turning out. I have a yellow lab and need to do another drawing of her. What color did you lay down first on the muzzle. Looks like a cream.

Thank you Dena, that's very kind of you:)

Hi Jeanne - sorry I missed your post somehow and don't know what happened there. I've found that I actually enjoyed working that bit smaller and look forward to doing more this size.

The colours I used in the muzzle were Warm grey I(FC Poly), Bistre(Derwent Artist), Brown Ochre 10%(CD Luminance), Brown Ochre(Derwent Artist), Brown Ochre 50%(CD Luminance) - the cream colour is mainly the Brown Ochre 10%. Look forward to seeing your drawings of your lab:D
