Holly finished

Holly
12'x10' Coloured Pencil
Copyright Laura Hardie 2010

Progress on Hollys' portrait has been slow and I had hoped to have her finished last week but, as always seems to be the case lately, life got in the way of that. And I'm still having problems with my computer which didn't help! Now need to play catch up with my next portrait:)

Wonderful work, Holly! The hair is looking just so amazingly well drawn.....and the colors and character of the portrait...well, they're amazing too.
What pencils and paper are you working with? Hope you don't mind me asking.

Thank you everybody for the great comments:-D

Christine in answer to your question (and I don't mind you asking at all:)) I use various pencils but mainly FC Polychromos and Derwent Artist. I also use Caran D'Ache Pablo and Luminance and Derwent Coloursoft (now and again Prismacolor too. Luckily they can be used together as i have my favourite colours from each brand. The paper I use is Fabriano Artistico hp watercolour (140lb) as it is smooth enough to get the detail I am after but yet has enough tooth to take many layers. I've recently decided that the Artistico is too 'off white' for my liking so I'm going to try Fabriano 5 - its still a hp watercolour paper so hoping I'll get the same results but on a whiter paper. Hope this helps:-D
