More Cocker Spaniels

'Rab'

It’s snowing outside, Christmas songs are playing continuously on the radio as I work, presents are all wrapped and under the tree, plenty of mince pies are being consumed but I’m struggling to get into the festive spirit – it just isn’t happening this year. I normally love Christmas too.

I’m still working away on the Cocker Spaniel portrait and need to get this finished before Christmas. As you can see, Rab is now finished and I’ve made a start on Rhu.

I guess its different as you have children, but you're not alone in being unable to get into the 'Christmas Spirit'. We haven't put any decorations up and even David's favourite 'Bah Humbug' lights have remained in their box this year. BUT we're going to EuroDisney, Paris, with my best friend and her hubby for New Year and REALLY looking forward to that.

Anyway, your artwork as always is superb Laura, whatever your frame of mind :o)

Really nice work, they compliment each other perfectly. The owners are going to be delighted when they see this.

Thank you:D

Hi Sue, I've got my tree up which is something I suppose:) Even my children are not feeling christmassy this year but then it will be our first Christmas without their dad and we're all finding it hard. It's funny because I'd thought about spending Xmas in Paris this year but didn't have the money - you'll have a superb time in EuroDisney and wish I could go:)

Well I guess Xmas at Eurodisney will be expensive, but we've got a really good deal for New Year - cheaper than staying at home I think ... one of the perks of living so close to France (that and the opportunity for regular 'booze cruises')

Anyway I hope you and your children have as good a time as possible and things WILL start to get much better soon.

xx

Thanks Sue and I really do hope you're right about things getting better soon (I'm emotionally exhausted:))

Hope you have a great time at EuroDisney:D

This one is gorgeous as usual. I love the contrast of the colorful one and the black one. What colors are you using on Rhu. I love their names. I'm wondering if Rhu is short for Rhubarb.

You have a wonderful cosy Christmas with your kids. Next year will be better and get easier. Hugs.

Thank you so much Jeanne:)

I thought Rhu was a great name too - not sure if it's short for anything though. The colours I have used for Rhu are Taupe and Mars Violet (Derwent Artist), Cold grey nos:1 to 6, Black (FC Polys), Paynes Grey 30% and 60%, Slate Grey (Caran D'Ache Luminance) and Mid Grey and Petrel Grey (Derwent Coloursoft) - lots of greys:D

Hope you too have a great Christmas and here's hoping things are better in 2010:)

Hope you managed to get the spaniels finished in time Laura - and that you aren't too snowed in (or under) in Scotland.

just tidying up my blog and realised I have added your site to my bloglist. I've done it now and would be really chuffed if you'd add mine to yours (no probs if not though) :o)

Don't know how old your children are but you might want to follow Santa's progress tonight via Google Earth - its good fun (especially if you have a glass or two of wine) http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html

Hi Sue, I'm pleased to say I finished the Spaniels in time and just heard back from the owner - she is delighted with it which is great news:)

Thank you for the blog link - I follow your blog regularly and have actually been meaning to add you to my bloglist for ages now. I will make sure I do this ASAP:D

Hope you had a good Xmas:)
