Back to colour

'Rab'
A Work in Progress
Copyright Laura Hardie 2009

Another Cocker Spaniel and this time he is one of a pair I am working on. I don’t think I’ve come across a breed of dog that has such variations in coat colour and markings – I’m assuming, after doing a bit of research, Rab is an orange roan but please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

Oh wow. Look how much you have done. It's looking really good.

Beautiful start Laura.

No idea about the colour - I've just had a quick 'Google' but ended up very confused about the colour definitions. I have two spaniels on my waiting list, one of which I would describe as champagne coloured but the owner tells me she is 'red' .... ?

It's coming along absolutely beautifully Laura! And I take it you've learnt from my mistake to make sure you emphasis the orange! lol!

All your portraits are lovely Laura, but the roaning and eyes on this one I especially love!
And yes, it would be an orange roan. If its lighter that would be lemon. I have a blue roan myself and love the colour!

Thank you:D

Sue, it does get very confusing with all the colour variations on this breed doesn't it:)

Thank you Sal:) I don't think Rab is quite as orange as the dog you had to paint but I've made sure it is definately in there:)

Hi Kim and thank you:) I'm so pleased I got the colour right and actually didn't know there was a lemon roan - like I said I don't think I've come across a breed of dog with such variations in its colouring:D
