Milly
16X12 Coloured Pencil
Copyright Laura Hardie 2009
I actually managed to finish Milly on time but have been sitting on it (not literally of course) for the last couple of days to see if there were any areas jumped out at me in need of attention before calling it done. I am happy to say however that she has now passed my ‘scrutinization’ period and is ready for approval.

Wonderful! I wish my colored pencil art looked like that! What a gorgeous true to life piece!
Wow (as always!)!
Another amazing job, Laura. WOW!
I agree with Heather, wow as always. Your work is so stunning! :-)
Thank you all so much for your comments:)I know I keep saying this but it's true - they really are very much appreciated:)
Milly is so beautiful. Those soulful eyes are gorgeous.
Beautiful work Laura as always, great depth of colour.
wonderfully done :D
I really enjoy seeing your work, both the in-progress and finished pieces!
I wonder if you have any posts or could comment on how draw onto the surface before starting the colored pencil. Do you project an image, or use a grid? It's so accurate, yet you still infuse life and movement into each piece :-)
Fabulous portrait! I love the reflected light on her fur.
Thank you Gillian - the eyes got to me too and would more than likely find it impossible to refuse her anything if she looked at me like this:)
Thank you Grahame - a result of many, many, many layers:)
Thank you Jennifer:)
Thank you Carol:) You're right, I don't have any posts showing how I transfer my drawing to paper and didn't think to either - I normally wait until I'm past the 'ugly' stage and people can see where the drawing is going. I simply use the grid method when starting a drawing and usually start with the eyes and work my way out from there. It's time consuming with lots of measurements going on but is normally quite acurate.
Thank you Sally:)
Brilliantly done. You have so much patience and talent.
I am in awe
